The variety of festivals, celebrations, parties, and shows in Andalucía is as large as its geography.
In the spring holidays, on every patron saint’s day, April fair, grape harvest, local celebration, and typical flamenco festival in the countryside, Andalucía shows its crafts, cuisine, music, and religion.
Carnivals play out with humour and irony everyday roles.
In Easter, cathedrals and churches bring out their processions of the Passion and walk a route that is repeated faithfully each year
April Fair in Seville, Horse fair in Jerez, the Fair of Malaga, etc are of great local and tourist interest.
In May we celebrate the Corpus and the Crosses, typical religious and secular festivals.
Shows about typical Andalusian fighting bulls are celebrated in many different local fairs. The art of bullfighting is very important in Spain.
Flamenco is the most typical expression of Andalusian folklore. Flamenco festivals used to be celebrated all throughout the year, but are much more frequent in summer, where people dance and sing along with the guitars.
The ‘Romerías’ are religious and secular pilgrimage festivals which are celebrated in nature. The most popular pilgrimage in Andalucia is the pilgrimage that people do to the Virgen of “El Rocio”
